据euronews报道，比利时禁售所有婴幼儿foam puzzle mats因其含有致癌物。Search了
一下致癌物是Formamide（a substance described as ” harmful if inhaled or
ingested, irritating to eyes and skin “）。
另据报道法国也已全面下架foam puzzle mats
Belgium is to ban the sale of all foam puzzle mats for babies and toddlers, citing tests showing they contain a cancer-causing chemical. Formamides are used to soften the foam in the mats but are corrosive and can be deadly.
Toxicologist Alfred Bernard explained: “They are solvents, residues from the manufacturing process that stay in the product afterwards. They can be absorbed through breathing or through the skin. As a rule, children should not be exposed to these products.”

现在市面上很多是号称safe（free of bpa, pvc, phthalates）的EVA foam mats。虽然他们的原料里没有Formamide ，但很可能byproduct有。以下是一些做playmat公司针对这一问题的回复：（欢迎姐妹们补充）
Skip Hop (makes the Playspot mat) – they sent the following response by email:
“All Skip Hop products, including the Playspot, meet or exceed regulatory safety standards in the USA and Europe, without exception. We do not add Formamide to Playspot, although it can be a byproduct of the EVA foam manufacturing process (which includes such items as flip flops and many bath toys). That said, due to these concerns, we have tested Playspot using ISO 16000 methods. We are pleased that our Playspots received the lowest possible score, <2ug/m3 (less than 2 millionths of a gram per cubic meter) for Formamide emissions, the lowest measurable result with this testing method. These tests show that – within the limits of the test – its presence is essentially not detectable. Therefore, the Playspot is a safe EVA floor mat option for children and you should feel confident that we have specifically tested for this issue.”
OneStepAhead - One of the moms called them and they confirmed that they were made of EVA foam and that formamide is not added. However, they were not able to confirm if the mats had been tested for production as a byproduct.
Tadpole said the same thing as OneStepAhead – no formamide, but no further detail regarding byproducts.

我也先后买了两套，后来在costco又买了一套。costco的没有味道，sam's的散了好久还有味道。冬天不开窗更不好啊，这下有理由扔东西了。
